Transaction Processing System and Management Information System Bognor Marine Watercraft Free Essay Example, 2750 words
With reference to project management, change management refers to a project management method in which changes to a project are officially established and approved. Due to the fact that changes are difficult to forecast, and tend to happen with rising frequency, it is becoming an increasingly important subject. In spite of how a novel information system is intended and how its implementation is designed, human potential represents a grave issue, that is, adjusting to this change. There are mainly two types of changes with respect to change management. The first type refers to changes required to be implemented as a result of customers need estimation. These changes happen mainly because the conditions were not clear at the starting of the project, due to change of technology, or the change in requirements caused by certain market conditions. The second type refers to changes reasoned by the information system s growth and the implementation project itself. These changes are frequent ly referred to as growth changes. This type of change is generally known in advance and it is essential to find a method to monitor and manage the change implementation itself. Annotated Bibliography on the Prevelence of Rape in...
Greenstadt, Amy. Read It In Me: the Authors Will in Lucrece. Shakespeare Quarterly. 57.1 (Spring 2006): 45-70. JStore. Web. 18 February 2014. In this body of work, associate professor at the University of Portland, Amy Greenstadt presents a compelling argument exploring William Shakespeares precise use of words in his poem The Rape of Lucrece. Structurally, Greenstadt employs a close reading method and anchors her research findings with the confirmation of concurring academics. Initially, Greenstadt introduces her readership to an innovation taking place in the world of publication during the Renaissance, which she refers to as an era of the writers will (47). Greenstadt thus substantiates her argument by suggesting that the innovation allows the poem to stand as a model through which female subjectivity is re-evaluated (46). Subsequently, Greenstadt validates her argument by concentrating largely on words that hold a double entendre particularly with respect to the meaning of publication. This aspect of her argument acts as both the strength, but also the fragility of her assertion. Greenstadt explains Shakespeare uses th e word publish as a homonym of sorts. Pragmatically, with respect to the final stanza in the poem, Shakespeare employs the word publish to announce publically Tarquines assault on Lucrece; however, Greenstadt argues that Shakespeare inevitably also uses the word publish in the literal sense as well. As in, he is publishing a

The Search For Immortality In Whitmans On The Bea Essay Example For Students
The Search For Immortality In Whitmans On The Bea Essay ch At Night And Stevens Sunday MorningThe search for immortality is not an uncommon one in literature. Many authors and poets find contentment within the ideals of faith and divinity; others, such as Whitman and Stevens, achieve satisfaction with the concept of the immortality of mortality. This understanding of the cycle of death and rebirth dominates both Walt Whitmanââ¬â¢s ââ¬Å"On the Beach at Nightâ⬠and Wallace Stevensââ¬â¢ ââ¬Å"Sunday Morningâ⬠and demonstrates the poetsââ¬â¢ philosophies of worldly immortality. Both poets present readers with characters questioning the apparent transience of nature. Whitmanââ¬â¢s young girl weeps to see the black ââ¬Å"burial-clouds that lower victorious soon to devour all,â⬠(line 12) just as Stevensââ¬â¢ young woman is saddened ââ¬Å"when the birds are gone, and their warm fields/Return no moreâ⬠(lines 49-50). These characters, unable to grasp the entirely of the cycle of mortality, are dismayed by earthly loss they continually observe. Whitman and Stevens similarly structured ââ¬Å"On the Beach at Nightâ⬠and ââ¬Å"Sunday Morning,â⬠in that their narrators answer to their charactersââ¬â¢ concerns by explaining, or at least hinting at, the beauty of the perpetual cycle of mortality. ââ¬Å"Something there is more immortal even than the stars,/(Many the burials, many the days and nights, passing away,)â⬠(lines 28-29) whispers Whitmanââ¬â¢s narrator. ââ¬Å"Death is the mother of beauty; hence from her,/Alone, shall come fulfillment to our dreams/And our desires,â⬠(lines 63-65) echoes Stevens. Through their suggestions of this death-rebirth cycle, Whitmanââ¬â¢s and Stevensââ¬â¢ narrators assuage their characters misgivings. Further, both poets utilize Jove/Jupiter as a metaphor for seeming immortality, and perhaps more familiar to the characters than the cycle of death and rebirth. While Whitman depends upon the planet named after the god to serve as the foundation for his analogy, Stevens utilizes Joveââ¬â¢s incarnation myth. Similar to the story of Christââ¬â¢s birth, Joveââ¬â¢s tale of birth, death and return to the heavens mirrors, in more familiar terms, the natural cycle of birth, death and rebirth. The poemsââ¬â¢ similarities end, however, at the narratorsââ¬â¢ confidence in the immortality of the cycle. While Stevensââ¬â¢ narrator confidently explicates the bounty of this repetition, Whitman only allows his narrator to subtly suggest its potential. He refers to the cycle only as ââ¬Å"somethingâ⬠: ââ¬Å"Something that shall endure longer even than lustrous Jupiterâ⬠(emphasis added; line 30). The narrator further whispers this intimation, as though its implications are too damning to be stated aloud. Yet, the reader is able to discern the subtext of these statements. As the narrator describes the passing of the days and nights, the certainty that the moon will shine again, the reader understands his celebration of the cyclical nature of time, of death and rebirth. Thus, the hope the narrator attempts to convey resonates within the readerââ¬â¢s ken. Where Whitman is hesitant, Stevens is bold. Stevensââ¬â¢ narrator does not hint, hedge or whisper; he proclaims. The narrator states unequivocally that ââ¬Å"Death is the mother of beautyâ⬠(line 63), and expands the assertion by describing the many ways in which people have come to unknowingly depend upon the rebirth cycle, such as the ripening of fruit. Moreover, Stevens employs his discussion of the cycle as a direct refutation of traditional religious practices. He eschews his characters concerns about missing a Sunday morning church service with his dismissal of a religion based upon things that no longer exist: Whey should she give her bounty to the dead? What is divinity if it can comeOnly in silent shadows and in dreams? (lines 16-18)Stevens prefers the worship of nature and its eternal rotation of life and death to the worship of man. He is bold in this choice, whereas Whitman makes no reference to religion, and thus absolves himself of the controversy which Stevens addresses head on. .u31f3815074acda6ca1061d0f42b2214f , .u31f3815074acda6ca1061d0f42b2214f .postImageUrl , .u31f3815074acda6ca1061d0f42b2214f .centered-text-area { min-height: 80px; position: relative; } .u31f3815074acda6ca1061d0f42b2214f , .u31f3815074acda6ca1061d0f42b2214f:hover , .u31f3815074acda6ca1061d0f42b2214f:visited , .u31f3815074acda6ca1061d0f42b2214f:active { border:0!important; } .u31f3815074acda6ca1061d0f42b2214f .clearfix:after { content: ""; display: table; clear: both; } .u31f3815074acda6ca1061d0f42b2214f { display: block; transition: background-color 250ms; webkit-transition: background-color 250ms; width: 100%; opacity: 1; transition: opacity 250ms; webkit-transition: opacity 250ms; background-color: #95A5A6; } .u31f3815074acda6ca1061d0f42b2214f:active , .u31f3815074acda6ca1061d0f42b2214f:hover { opacity: 1; transition: opacity 250ms; webkit-transition: opacity 250ms; background-color: #2C3E50; } .u31f3815074acda6ca1061d0f42b2214f .centered-text-area { width: 100%; position: relative ; } .u31f3815074acda6ca1061d0f42b2214f .ctaText { border-bottom: 0 solid #fff; color: #2980B9; font-size: 16px; font-weight: bold; margin: 0; padding: 0; text-decoration: underline; } .u31f3815074acda6ca1061d0f42b2214f .postTitle { color: #FFFFFF; font-size: 16px; font-weight: 600; margin: 0; padding: 0; width: 100%; } .u31f3815074acda6ca1061d0f42b2214f .ctaButton { background-color: #7F8C8D!important; color: #2980B9; border: none; border-radius: 3px; box-shadow: none; font-size: 14px; font-weight: bold; line-height: 26px; moz-border-radius: 3px; text-align: center; text-decoration: none; text-shadow: none; width: 80px; min-height: 80px; background: url(https://artscolumbia.org/wp-content/plugins/intelly-related-posts/assets/images/simple-arrow.png)no-repeat; position: absolute; right: 0; top: 0; } .u31f3815074acda6ca1061d0f42b2214f:hover .ctaButton { background-color: #34495E!important; } .u31f3815074acda6ca1061d0f42b2214f .centered-text { display: table; height: 80px; padding-left : 18px; top: 0; } .u31f3815074acda6ca1061d0f42b2214f .u31f3815074acda6ca1061d0f42b2214f-content { display: table-cell; margin: 0; padding: 0; padding-right: 108px; position: relative; vertical-align: middle; width: 100%; } .u31f3815074acda6ca1061d0f42b2214f:after { content: ""; display: block; clear: both; } READ: Saul Bellow Seize the Day the Water Imagery Sample EssayWhitman does allude to a divinity, however, which Stevens discounts. Whitmanââ¬â¢s narrator, in his discussion of things immortal, alights upon Jupiter as a lord figure. Jupiter, the narrator assures the young weeping girl, will return once the clouds disperse. Yet, even Whitman takes note of the cycle of loss and gain as perhaps more immortal than Jupiter: ââ¬Å"Something that shall endure longer even than lustrous Jupiterâ⬠(line 30). As such, Whitman tackles a point which Stevens avoids: Whitmanââ¬â¢s narrator sees even the divine as subject to the cycle of immortality, while Stevens does not make such a connection. Stevens, instead, focuses on the human aspects of theist religion, specifically Christianity. In doing so, he eludes a theological argument by focusing instead on the sociological issue of religion. The resulting poems, ââ¬Å"On the Beach at Nightâ⬠and ââ¬Å"Sunday Morning,â⬠express similar beliefs about the cyclical nature of life. Their similar structures, of a doubting character and persuasively responding narrator, allow the poets to profess their beliefs about the character of mortal life. And although Stevens focuses on refuting his contemporary religious practices and Whitman centers on acknowledging his personal theology, the poems equally address the search for immortality in the human world. The Greek Epic Poet Hesiod
The Greek Epic Poet Hesiod Hesiod and Homer both composed important, famous epic poems. The two are also called the first great writers of Greek literature, having written during Greeces Archaic Age. Beyond the act of writing, they are central to the history of ancient Greece because the father of history, Herodotus, (Book II) credits them with giving the Greeks their gods: For Hesiod and Homer I suppose were four hundred years before my time and not more, and these are they who made a theogony for the Hellenes and gave the titles to the gods and distributed to them honours and arts, and set forth their forms: but the poets who are said to have been before these men were really in my opinion after them. Of these things the first are said by the priestesses of Dodona, and the latter things, those namely which have regard to Hesiod and Homer, by myself. We also credit Hesiod with giving us didactic (instructive and moralizing) poetry. Hesiod likely lived around 700 B.C., shortly after Homer, in a Boeotian village called Ascra. This is one of the few details of his life that Hesiod reveals in his writing. Career and Works Hesiod worked as a shepherd in the mountains, as a youth, and then, as a small peasant on a hard land when his father died. While tending his flock on Mt. Helicon, the Muses appeared to Hesiod in a mist. This mystical experience impelled Hesiod to write epic poetry. Hesiods major works are Theogony and Works and Days. Shield of Herakles, a variation on the Shield of Achilles theme from the Iliad, is attributed to Hesiod but was probably not actually written by him. Hesiod's "Theogony" on the Greek Gods The Theogony is particularly important as an (often confusing) account of the evolution of the Greek gods. Hesiod tells us that in the beginning was Chaos, a yawning chasm. Later Eros developed on its own. These figures were powers rather than anthropomorphic deities like Zeus (who wins and becomes king of the gods in the 3rd generation struggle against his father). Hesiod's "Works and Days" The occasion of Hesiods writing of the Works and Days is a dispute between Hesiod and his brother Perses over the distribution of his fathers land: Perses, lay up these things in your heart, and do not let that Strife who delights in mischief hold your heart back from work, while you peep and peer and listen to the wrangles of the court-house. Little concern has he with quarrels and courts who has not a years victuals laid up betimes, even that which the earth bears, Demeters grain. When you have got plenty of that, you can raise disputes and strive to get anothers goods. But you shall have no second chance to deal so again: nay, let us settle our dispute here with true judgement divided our inheritance, but you seized the greater share and carried it off, greatly swelling the glory of our bribe-swallowing lords who love to judge such a cause as this. Fools! They know not how much more the half is than the whole, nor what great advantage there is in mallow and asphodel. Works and Days is filled with moral precepts, myths, and fables (making it a didactic poem) for which reason, rather than its literary merit, it was highly valued by the ancients. It is a source for the Ages of Man. Hesiod's Death After Hesiod lost a lawsuit to his brother Perses, he left his homeland and moved to Naupactus. According to the legend about his death, he was murdered by the sons of his host in Oeneon. At the command of the Delphic Oracle Hesiods bones were brought to Orchomenus where a monument to Hesiod was erected in the marketplace.

Study the housing market bubble the US is currently experiencing. What Essay
Study the housing market bubble the US is currently experiencing. What happened because of the bubble and what is the current state of the housing market and ho - Essay Example However, financial derivatives itself are considered as detrimental if their use is made in more superficial way. Banks, in order to recoup the lost liquidity drained into the subprime mortgage loans have securitized them against the payments and real estate properties offered as securities in those mortgage loans. The process of securitization works in double way. Banks rely on the cash flows generated through the repayment of these subprime mortgage loans to pay off their obligations on those securitized instruments issued by the financial institutions. The problem arises when the subprime borrowers started to default on their obligations hence creating a mismatching in the liquidity positions of the financial institutions. Since most of the financials institutions have already securitized their mortgage portfolio therefore, in order to avoid being defaulted on their payments to the bond holders of those securitized loans, they divert their normal cash resources to the payments to be made to those bond holders. Since the normal and routine liquid resources of the financial institutions go to the repayments of those bonds therefore they find themselves short of liquidity hence a credit crunch in the economy emerges as a result of this. The credit crunch caused by this housing bubble borrowers also leads to the crowding out effect also as more and more funds are being diverted in paying off the liabilities of the financial institutions therefore the availability of the credit to the private sector shrinks thus halting the progress of the economy since most of the companies rely on bank credit at least for their short term working capital needs as well as making long term investments through a combination of borrowings either through banking channels or secondary markets. With the lowering interest rates, the demand for the homes increased which ultimately raised the prices
